Terms of use
Last changed on 6 November 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Tonbi when you use the Tonbi app, the website at tonbi.io or the sellers' page at seller.tonbi.io. By using Tonbi, you agree to them.
Our privacy notice says what we keep about you and why. If anything here is unclear, write to support@tonbi.io.
Your account
You sign in with your mobile number, and Tonbi sends you a code by SMS. Keep your phone and your codes to yourself: whoever signs in with them acts as you.
Use your real name and details, and keep them up to date. One person, one account.
You must be 18 or older to use Tonbi.
Buying
Sellers set their own prices and describe their own goods. Each seller sells to you; Tonbi is the marketplace that brings you together and keeps your money safe until your order reaches you.
You pay when you order, with Mobile Money or a card, through our payment partner, Hubtel. An order goes to the seller only once Hubtel confirms your payment.
Tonbi holds your money while the seller delivers. Give the seller your delivery PIN only when the order is in your hands: the PIN tells Tonbi to pay the seller, and the order is then complete.
If you do not give the PIN, the seller is paid 48 hours after the order is marked delivered, unless you report a problem with it before then.
You can report a problem with an order until its seller is paid. The money then stays held while Tonbi looks at what you and the seller say, and Tonbi decides whether the seller is paid or your money is returned to you in full.
You can ask a seller to cancel an order before it is sent. If the seller does not answer within 12 hours and the order has not been sent, it is cancelled. Once an order is sent, it can no longer be cancelled.
If a seller does not send a paid order within 48 hours, the order is cancelled and your money is returned in full.
Selling
To sell, you apply in the app with your shop's name, its handle, where it is, and the Mobile Money number you are paid to. Tonbi looks over each new shop before it opens.
Your shop's name, handle, words, pictures, address and city are shown on its page, for shoppers to find you.
Sell only what you own or are allowed to sell. Describe it truthfully, show the real goods in your lives and shorts, and send what was ordered, yourself or with a rider you trust.
What your orders earn goes to your Tonbi wallet once the shopper gives you the PIN, or as said under Buying. You cash out to the Mobile Money number on your shop's record. Money leaves Tonbi only for a seller whose Ghana Card Tonbi has checked.
After you change the Mobile Money number you are paid to, cash outs wait 48 hours, to keep your money safe. A large cash out may take longer, while a second person at Tonbi checks it.
What it costs to sell, as it stands today:
- No commission on what you sell.
- Pro, if you want it: GH₵ 80 a month or GH₵ 850 a year. You can try it free for 7 days, once. Nothing renews by itself.
- GH₵ 1.50 each time you cash out to your Mobile Money.
- Boosts, if you want them, from GH₵ 15, to show your live to more shoppers.
Every fee is also on Sell on Tonbi. Before a fee changes, Tonbi tells its sellers. An offer we make applies as its own words say.
Lives, shorts and what you post
What you post stays yours. You allow Tonbi to show it in the app and on the website, to keep it, and to show it in links and previews when it is shared, for as long as it is on Tonbi.
Your shop, your products, your lives, your shorts, your comments and your reviews are public on Tonbi.
Tonbi records lives, and may cut their busiest moments into shorts that the shop can post with one tap.
Tonbi's staff, helped by software, check products, lives and shorts. A product or a short may be held back for them to look at, and a live may be ended.
What is not allowed
- Selling anything the law of Ghana does not allow, or anything stolen or fake, such as goods with a brand that is not theirs.
- Weapons, drugs, medicines not approved in Ghana, and skin creams with hydroquinone or mercury.
- Saying that a product cures or treats an illness.
- Misleading shoppers with wrong prices, pictures or descriptions.
- Putting phone numbers, links or other ways to reach you in products, lives or comments, or asking anyone to pay outside Tonbi. A payment made outside Tonbi is not protected, and Tonbi may warn people about messages that ask for one.
- Nudity, and anything hateful, violent or meant to hurt.
- Harassing, threatening or insulting anyone.
- Pretending to be someone else, or using someone else's account, number or Ghana Card.
- Trying to break Tonbi, to overload it, or to get round its checks.
When these terms are broken
Tonbi may take a product off sale, remove a short, a review, a comment or a chat message, end a live, hide a shop, or block an account. Where we can, we tell you why.
Tonbi's part
We work to keep Tonbi running and your money safe, but Tonbi may sometimes be unavailable, and we cannot promise that it never will be.
Each seller is responsible for what they sell and for delivering it. Tonbi's part is to hold the shopper's money and to pay it out or return it as these terms say.
As far as the law allows, Tonbi is not responsible for losses from using Tonbi beyond paying out or returning the money it holds for an order as these terms say.
Deleting your account
You can stop using Tonbi at any time, and delete your account in the app or at tonbi.io: open Settings, then Delete my account. While an order, a payment or money in your shop's wallet is still open, the app says what to finish first. The privacy notice says what is deleted and what is kept as records.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. Before an important change applies, we tell you in the app. Using Tonbi after a change means you accept it.
The law
These terms are under the laws of Ghana. If we disagree about anything, write to support@tonbi.io first, and we will try to settle it with you.
